Remote access to a wastewater dashboard and permission to operate equipment are different requirements. Control needs an approved operating scope, verified conditions and evidence of what happened after each action.
Define who may view and who may act
Assign individual accounts and roles. Identify permitted equipment and commands, approval responsibilities and access review dates. A shared account makes it harder to establish who performed a particular action.
Check conditions at the plant
Review local or remote mode, maintenance status, interlocks and other conditions defined by the responsible engineering team. Display reasons when an action is unavailable. Software access must fit the approved plant operating procedure.
Distinguish a request from successful execution
A sent command, an accepted command and a verified equipment state are separate events. Agree how the interface shows pending, rejected or uncertain outcomes. Test communication-loss scenarios in an approved environment.
Keep records and review recovery
Log user, equipment, requested action, time and available feedback. Link the record to the incident or work order. Agree the local fallback and escalation process, then test representative actions before authorizing wider use.
Records to check
| Record group | Evidence to review |
|---|---|
| Authorization | Named user, role and approved equipment |
| Execution | Plant conditions and command feedback |
| Review | Action log and confirmed outcome |
Prepare an assessment with X-IRIS
Bring access rules, control diagrams, operating procedures and representative command and failure scenarios. Review the implementation roadmap and request an assessment to agree a scope that can be tested.
